PROJECT 1 : AUDIO EDITING EXERCISE
Week 3
During the third week, Mr. Martin formed bands, and we started looking for sound effects for the video project. We entered the found effects into a special Google spreadsheet, which he provided for collaboration.
Task Description (Rephrased):
Everything, Everywhere, All at Once — your task is to sync the necessary audio elements in Premiere Pro. Only include speech and sound effects (no music). (Drive link provided.)
Audio Preparation:
Speech: Record dialogue using a phone.
Sound Effects: Find suitable sounds online (e.g., FreeSound, 99Sounds, KasraDesign).
Ambient Sounds: Add background atmosphere where appropriate.
Group Work:
Open the video in the Premiere Pro timeline and watch it carefully.
Break the video down into individual scenes and list them in a Google Spreadsheet.
For each scene, list the required sound effects accordingly.

After we completed the search for sound effects, I moved on to the next stage — I started recording dialogues for videos using my phone. I tried to make the sound clear and match the mood of each scene. I also checked how the voice is combined with the found effects to achieve the most natural sound.
Once the recordings were finished, I uploaded all the audio files to Google Drive to kee everything organized and ready for use in Premiere Pro.

Mr. Martin showed us how to edit the audio in our dialogue recordings. He explained how to adjust the pitch by going to Sound Effects > Time and Pitch > Pitch Shifter, dragging it onto the clip, and fine-tuning the settings.
Imported my dialogue recording and the sound effects into a new project in Adobe Premiere Pro. Then, I uploaded the voice-over file and added it to the timeline. To avoid making any unintentional changes, I locked the audio track after placing it in the sequence.

used the Pitch Shifter effect to modify the voice in my recording. Specifically, I adjusted the pitch to make the dialogue sound more like a male voice.

To enhance the atmosphere and avoid moments of complete silence, I also added a subtle background ambient sound. In addition, I included a heartbeat sound and a tension effect to build suspense and make the scene feel more intense.
Overall, this process helped me better understand how sound design can enhance the emotional impact of a video. By carefully selecting and editing audio elements, I was able to create a more immersive and engaging experience.
FINAL OUTCOME

PROJECT 1 : AUDIO SHAPING
In this project, we explored how to shape and transform audio using different effects in Adobe Audition.
We had an online class with Mr. Martin, where he guided us step-by-step through the process. The main task was to record a 10-second voice clip in our mother tongue in my case Russian and apply four different sound design effects to the same recording.
- Phone Effects
- Muffled
- Underground
- Alien
I recorded myself saying a short sentence in russian language. This became the base audio for applying different effects.

REFLECTIONS
Experience:
While working on the project, I recorded dialogues, selected sound effects, and edited audio in Adobe Premiere Pro. This was my first experience with full-fledged sound design of a scene, where I learned how sound affects the perception of a video.
Observations:
I noticed that even simple sounds like breathing, footsteps, or background noise make the scene more lively and expressive. I also learned how changing the pitch of a voice can change a character's character.
Findings:
I learned how to work with sound technically and creatively — record, edit, combine. This project helped me understand how sound can be used to control the mood and engagement of the viewer.
